Ingredients:

  • 1 Whole Anthony Spices Dried Carolina Reaper Pepper Pod
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 oz) Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: Shredded Cheese, Sour Cream, Sliced Jalapeños, Cilantro

Instructions:

  1. If you're sensitive to capsaicin, consider wearing gloves to handle the Carolina Reaper Pepper Pod.
  2. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and diced red bell pepper to the pot. Sauté until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, beef broth, ground cumin, and chili powder to the pot. Stir to combine.
  5. Split the whole dried Carolina Reaper pepper pod lengthwise and add it to the chili mixture. Be careful not to touch your face or eyes after handling the pepper.
  6. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
